Probably best to call Cade and ask him what he recommends. Looks like they took down the tripod info on their site. I think the head they recommend is the Manfrotto 701HDV

The best recipe that includes acorns:
1. Have a big-framed 3x3 eat them all year long
2. Let the acorns stew until Late Dec.
3. Harvest said Coues buck.
4. Enjoy a tenderloin steak over the campfire 3 miles from the truck.

LOL!! Agreed!

Sorry Jamaro, I haven't really messed with acorn recipes. But I have some wild food cookbooks I can check for you.

Well, my husband has some one last prickly pear class to teach at the arboretum and he needed some pears for it so we went out tonight to get some.

The pears were really fat and ripe where we went north of Globe.

Saw this cool praying mantis hiding in one of the prickly pears. Sorry I only had my cell phone with me to take pics with!

Figured I'd share my super simple dove recipe in honor of today's opener:

Ingredients:

Dove Breasts
Milk
Hot Sauce
Salt
Pepper

Place dove breasts in zip-loc bag, add milk (enough to cover but not drench the breasts), tabasco or other hot sauce with discretion, salt, and pepper. Seal the bag and let it marinate in the fridge for as long as you like.

Remove the breasts from the bag (you can pat them dry or let them or air dry them but I never do) and place them on a foil covered oven sheet. Bake at 350 for approximately 20 minutes. You may choose to cover the breasts with foil as well...dried out birds aren't the best table fare. Serve and enjoy.

I've also wrapped bacon around each breast prior to placing them in the oven with this marinade. That's a tasty way to go too.

Makes me hungry!! Thanks for posting the recipe!

Nice pics Clay!! Took me awhile on that last one to see what you were referring to!

The judging is going to be tough! I will post up new threads where you can vote on the final pics once we narrow it down a little.

Thanks to all who submitted to the contest!

Several people here have used it and love it. The one thing to keep in mind is that you need a really good tripod head so that you don't have any wiggle in the plate that slides into the tripod. If you go to the claw website you can see the tripod they recommend.

Those sheds make me think that Harold should stop wasting his time chasing those little 150 class bucks and start spending his time hunting real deer! tongue.gif Unbelievable find!

LOL!

He just got a Dec tag and will be purusing this buck!

I think it's a set from the buck on the bottom of this page in the Ellsworth/Epperson shed photogallery:
